Jeff Beck - Brush with the blues

Jeff Beck is a classic rock style 2-position player, and all his riffs are based on the 5th string and 6th string scale shapes with play-throughs. Notice that he doesn't use a pick anymore and that he plays with his thumb on the neck, like I tell you always not to do. If you watch him closely you will see that this inhibits his speed and he never plays fast scale passages. He is a riff-based player with incredible phrasing and lyrical quality. In fact, I consider him to be the premier inventive melodic guitar player.
